About ‘Expressive Body’, work in progress by Leish Troupe
The Expressive Body is a training program by Leish Troupe in Damascus, Syria.
This work in progress is the first step towards exploring and understanding the expressive potential of the body, all its elements was created by the trainees from different disciplines: Dance, Acting, Dramaturgy, Scenography and light design. Filmed on December 22, 2021.

About Noura Murad
Leish Troupe creates physical theater performances on stage and in alternative places, organizing workshops for amateurs and professionals of all disciplines in contemporary performing art, and we do theoretical and practical research about the body in the form of long-term projects.
Noura is an actress, choreographer, and the founder and artistic director of Leish Troupe, a Syrian physical theater. Since 2001, she has been supervising and organizing workshops in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Dubai. Murad participated in many conferences in the region and abroad.
Noura served as a member in the jury of the Philadelphia Festival for University Theater in 2005-2006. In 2009, she co-organized the 1st Damascus Contemporary Dance Platform. In 2013 – 2019, and she also taught Physical Theatre and Contemporary Performing Arts classes at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus at Acting, Dance, Scenography and Technical departments. Noura headed the Dance Department between 2013- 2015 and as an actress, she has played many roles in theater, television, radio and cinema.
About The Festival
The Segal Center Film Festival on Theatre and Performance (FTP) is an annual event showcasing films drawn from the world of theatre and performance. The festival presents experimental, emerging, and established theatre artists and filmmakers from around the world to audiences and industry professionals. The 7th annual festival will focus on work for the screen created by theatre artists during the Time of Corona. The festival will be held digitally from March 1st – 15th 2022.
