About Activate Disaster
A virtual dramatic reading of personal reflections written by members of the Emergency and Anesthesiology Departments at the Medical Center of the American University of Beirut who responded to the mass casualty incident of the Beirut port explosion on August 4th, 2020, the largest non-nuclear blast in history.
The reading is followed by a talkback session with Dr. Eveline Hitti, Dr. Sarah Abdul Nabi, Dr. Carine Zeeni and Dr. Amin Antoine Kazzi in addition to Dr. Dinah Ayna, a Clinical Psychologist who responded to the Emergency Department of AUBMC on the night of the Beirut explosion.
Presented live on Zoom on Friday Dec 4, 2020 at 8:00pm A collaboration between The Fine Arts and Art History Department at AUB, The AUB Theater Initiative and The Department of Emergency Medicine at AUBMC.

About Sahar Assaf
Sahar Assaf (she/her) is a Lebanese theatre-maker and currently the Executive Artistic Director of Golden Thread Productions in San Francisco. At the American University of Beirut, she co-founded with her long-term collaborator playwright Robert Myers, the Theater Initiative, an interdisciplinary group of faculty and artists working to facilitate theatre creation and research locally, regionally, and internationally.
About The Festival
The Segal Center Film Festival on Theatre and Performance (FTP) is an annual event showcasing films drawn from the world of theatre and performance. The festival presents experimental, emerging, and established theatre artists and filmmakers from around the world to audiences and industry professionals. The 7th annual festival will focus on work for the screen created by theatre artists during the Time of Corona. The festival will be held digitally from March 1st – 15th 2022.
