About For Beauty
Karel Hugo Hilar joined the National Theatre in Prague in 1921, at the height of his creative powers. As historians have put it, he entered “a very turbulent and hostile territory”. The production pays tribute to this truly distinguished figure, an artist who advanced Czech art miles forward and whose words are just as exciting today as they were a century ago.
By no means a dry biographic study, its aim is to conduct a live dialogue with those who have established the Czech theatre tradition.
About Daniela Špinar, the Artistic Director of the National Theatre Drama
After graduating from Acting and Stage direction at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Daniela Špinar has served as a guest director in many regional and Prague theatres; she was briefly a resident director at the Theatre in Vinohrady (Prague) and collaborated with the independent Theatre Letí. Up to date she received many theatre awards.
Since the 2015/16 season she has been the Artistic Director of the National Theatre Drama in Prague.
About The Festival
The Segal Center Film Festival on Theatre and Performance (FTP) is an annual event showcasing films drawn from the world of theatre and performance. The festival presents experimental, emerging, and established theatre artists and filmmakers from around the world to audiences and industry professionals. The 7th annual festival will focus on work for the screen created by theatre artists during the Time of Corona. The festival will be held digitally from March 1st – 15th 2022.
