About Pamela Villoresi
Pamela Villoresi, attrice e regista, a 18 approda al Piccolo di Milano da Giorgio Strehler (suo padre teatrale); ha recitato in più di 70 spettacoli di cui 5 con Strehler, ha lavorato in quasi 40 film con grandi maestri come Miklós Jancsó, Marco Bellocchio, i fratelli Taviani e Paolo Sorrentino.Dall’aprile del 2019 dirige il Teatro Biondo di Palermo.
Pamela Villoresi, the Italian actress and Direttore of Teatro Biondo Stabile in Palermo, was the first in Italy to initiate original daily online presentations once lockdown began, creating employment and compensation to local and regional theatre artists. Sicilian authors and artists were the specific focus and one major program “Una stanza tutto per noi” involved Palermo letters written by Palermo public school students as well as the students of the theatre school of the Teatro Biondo.
The city’s mayor Leoluca Orlando asked what the city can do for its artists, and not what the artists should do for the city. His administration created a safe haven for immigrants and theatre artists in a town where there are “no foreigners, only citizens of Palermo”. Professore Giovanni Puglisi is President of Teatro Biondo; Associates are the Comune di Palermo, the Regione Siciliana and the Fondazione Teatro Biondo. Curator and producer Elizabeth Hayes brings her global connections.
About The Festival
The Segal Center Film Festival on Theatre and Performance (FTP) is an annual event showcasing films drawn from the world of theatre and performance. The festival presents experimental, emerging, and established theatre artists and filmmakers from around the world to audiences and industry professionals. The 7th annual festival will focus on work for the screen created by theatre artists during the Time of Corona. The festival will be held digitally from March 1st – 15th 2022.
