About Budapestian Schizo

This “live film” shows a day in the life of Feri Soros. It shows how a group of young artists live their lives in Hungary in the 1990s, but they think, nothing much has changed. Politics in Hungary is always trying to eliminate artistic freedom. He shows philosophically how a 25-year-old guy deals with “being” and shows how the so-called nationalist view of art bears the natural contradiction of it, how art balances itself out immediately.
The last show was live streamed on 29 November 2021.

“This performance is a “live movie”.
The performance was prepared in my apartment due to the Covid closures.
We painted the walls of the apartment and the furniture blue to act as a blue screen.
To maximize space (the whole apartment is only 40 square meters) we built a gallery in the room.
I lived in the set with my girlfriend, we were locked in, so we could prepair it all day long to make sure it didn’t break during the long cut.
We got all the books and stuff that is in the original novel from Attila Hazai.
We borrowed the technical equipment from different places each time.
For the performance, we recorded the songs in a studio with a band.
The production took around 9 months to complete it.
We did everything live during every performance.” -Máté Sándor
