About The Luxe Hotel

Luxe Hotel is a durational theater piece that was performed at the 2021 Chashama Gala over two six-hour events. The story: An Assailant bursts in on The Survivor and The Witness in a hotel bedroom. The Assailant removes The Witness by force and then begs forgiveness from The Survivor. Then The Assailant brings in a new Witness.

Fusing mime, butoh, fake slow motion, and dance, 20 actors created their own characters in secret. Then they learned specific physical actions which would bring out a cycle of violence and reconciliation – 70 unique performances.

In the documentary, the audience will see excerpts of the piece and hear from the actors and key creators: Barbara Nitke, Michael Wiener, Tony Torn, Roy Koshy, Laura Pruden, Sasha K. Gordon, Julia Cavagna, Amanda Jane Stern, Yokko, Charles Everett, Robert McKeon, Josefina Scaro, Rolls Andre, Ben Becher, Vera Beren, Aurora Heimbach, Awesta Zarif and Vanessa Walters, Kendall Dupre, Cori Kresge, and Chris Michaelson and director Matt Kohn.
