About ENTER

The ΕΝΤΕR project is not another quarantine diary, but a series of original works created in the conditions of the “here and now” in order to surpass it and bring us together through the world of our digital platforms.

ONASSIS STEGI and Onassis USA commission artists across the globe to prepare new works within 120 hours. The thought behind it is that we need to include and understand the present, to learn from it, to narrate and banish it, at the same time creating a digital time capsule, which will preserve the memory of this period for future generations.

During the pandemic time-space, houses, apartments, gardens, roof-terraces and balconies become our new site-specific stages. Children, husbands and wives, grandparents, roommates, even pets become, alongside their household goods, characters and props, as the artist’s laptop is turned into a creative superpower.

The individual projects under ENTER include:

Fighting World | 600 Highwaymen

A peculiar road-movie on the times of quarantine through the eyes of a 14-year-old girl in upstate New York. A static, black and white, provincial landscape, full of emptiness, animal farms and a lonely car racing the empty streets. In a world that once was at a constant fight, the things that used to be considered important now seem so strange. The one and only thing that still exists is the gravity; things do not fall apart.

Happy Hours | Radiohole

A desperate meditation on the extended passage of time as experienced through social distance.

Altostratus: An Allegory | Okwui Okpokwasili & Peter Born

Altostratus clouds are grey or blue grey. The sun or moon may shine through these clouds but it’s signaling that a storm is on the way. This is a piece involving movement, sound, and text. It is meant to hold a space for reflection, to consider what hangs above us and how it all may fall.

Swim | Kareem Kalokoh

Captures of Kareem’s universe during the pandemic. A short film about the feeling of isolation, creating art in a world paused by Covid-19, and friendship.

Touch Me | Yorgos Zois

In a distant future world, where water and air are contaminated, and it is prohibited to touch one another, a girl and a boy decide to go to a beach.

Heterotopia Garden | Akira Takayama

Heterotopia Garden is a short instructional guide of how to make your own “garden” at home. You can then share an image of your “garden” and create your own story to accompany it.

The Quiet: Part 1 | Risa Puno & Avi Dobkin

The Quiet: Part 1, is a collaborative adventure game created by interactive artist Risa Puno and longtime D&D enthusiast Avi Dobkin in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Designed for playing remotely, this interactive artwork is rooted in tabletop role-playing game mechanics.

About Onassis Culture

Οnassis Stegi lies at the heart of Onassis Culture, the Foundation’s cultural engagement.
ONASSIS STEGI is the place where contemporary culture meets aesthetics and science. The place where courageous, restless, daring Greek artists find the means to showcase their work; the place where international collaborations are nurtured; the stage on which the boundaries between science, art, society, education, learning and politics are renegotiated. Above all, ONASSIS STEGI is the space where questions are asked which feed the mind and spirit, which query givens, with this ideal ultimate goal: generating actions, interventions and ideas which shape and shake society.

The Onassis Stegi building hosts theatrical and musical productions, film screenings, art and digital shows, but its activities and central concept extend beyond the four walls of the center on Syngrou Avenue.
